A poem for autumn

The heat has decided to leave us for another year,

But the cold hasn’t come yet.

I wish I could say the beginning of life is the time I enjoy,

But the end is missing a teleology.

To me, a young girl, the end is the real definition of life

As the leaves fall in the season of Autumn, I see life and color everywhere,

The crusty, dead leaves on the ground show me that life is nothing without death,

It makes me wonder whether true immortality even exists?

As the joy inside me leaves me in thought I begin to remember things,

I remember things about Autumn,

Memories of this marvelous season are those of jumping into newly cleaned dead leaves,

Memories of jumping into death but feeling life run through every vein in my body.

The memories of waiting till’ the end of October to dress up as something worth fearing but getting all the sweet chocolate in the world.

Waiting till’ the last week of November for mother’s delicious Turkey.

Autumn has come again,

The time when memories come and stay.

It’s Autumn, the time when life begins!
